What determines if a building material shows an outline or not in elevation??

I ended up remaking the Building materials that were bugged. If I duplicated them they were still bugged , so I remade them from scratch and now they work, with outlines in elevations.
The problem was that with certain building materials , an element would not have any outline at all in elevation and section, regardless of all other settings.
Thank you very much for your help

Check also that you do not have duplicate elements in exactly the same space.
These will look fine in plan but will trim each other away in 3D (section/elevation) and the edge lines will disappear.
I just saw a similar problem in another post just minutes ago.

I have merged this post and its replies to this thread as they are essentially the same question.
Please try to not duplicate posts.

As mentioned in the other post I linked to, have you set the vertical limit on in the section/elevation but have the heights set to zero (or the same) for upper and lower limit?
This will result in you being able to see the elements, but not select them by their perimeter.
You can still select them by their fill (Quick Select - magnet).

Hi Barry, its definitely a Building Materials issue. I spend a lot of time checking everything and it all came down to a select few Building Materials which seemed to be bugged somehow. I rebuilt the Materials from scratch and they work fine now. Its possible that they were Building Materials from someone else's template file that I imported , possibly from a different region version (US). I suspect this might have been the problem.
In the past I have built my project template files off of other peoples template files as a starting point. I think this can cause a lot of issues and I wont be doing it again.

Thanks to inform us with the solution to that case which is importing BM via a template relates to a different Archicad local version, perfect.
If you can accept your reply as a solution it’d be helpful.

Hi Barry,
I see that @Strawbale23‘s topic is prior to @Paul King’s one so there’s no duplication.
I see we can have the same problem with different reasons and approaches we can’t call that a duplication.

I said Strawbale's problem seemed similar to Paul's post which I linked to, wondering if that might be the solution.
I then noticed that Strawbale them-self had created two separate posts asking the same thing, which I merged into this post...
