Re-read the first reply from Eduardo.
This is a preference setting in the On-Screen options in your Work Environment.
When you are editing the actual master, all the colours will look as you expect.
When you a viewing a normal layout page, the master will appear with a red pen (or what ever colour you have set it up in the WE).
It will not affect the printed output.
It is just so you can easily see what is in the master and you know you can't edit it without actually opening the master layout.

Thanks Barry. I understand this now. It didn't happen in SE17 but it is a logical feature.
