About building parametric objects with GDL.

Gdl components ifc mapping

Hello,

In our national standards, we should set a separate classification for some windows and doors parts, like sunshades, lintel, sills.

Since gdl objects have only one class by object, is there a way to set a class (by selecting the class from a list or write it manually ) , and map that value to ifc ,

Any other idea is welcome,

Thanks

This is a big missed opportunity that GS is not tapping into, lets call them "assemblies", where we can manage relations between elements properly.

I have no other workaround than recommending to actually place different elements as discrete objects, even tho the effort and modeling cost raises tenfold. 😞

Absolutely agree,

Actually, i use propreties as a secondary classification of components, but it leads to errors if you don't be carefull with your model.
