Hello all,
Anybody know if there's such a request or similar command to use with an aperture gdl object?
Hope you all have a great summer,
Paalanen

An aperture object (opening) will simply put a hole in the wall.
Depending in the height of the wall, that will simply cut through the log at that position.
The 'start with half log' option you show is for the base of the wall itself.
You could include an option in your aperture to include a sill and then create a sill that is a half log shape.
But the bottom of that sill is just going to cut through the log wall at the height you place it.
You would have to manually position the height of your opening.
I am not sure if there is a way to get the log height from the wall (I see nothing in global parameters).
Barry.

Thank you very much for your reply. I'm working with an addon called ArchiLogs and the opening sometimes takes it's shape from the log height and is thus dependent on, apart from the log height, whether the wall starts with half a log or a full one. I presume this data must be extracted from the addon...

Wall accessories get the data from the existing wall and apply GDL object to the wall.
Add-ons may create the wall from scratch.
I have never dealt with this add-on so I am not sure how it works.
Barry.

Hi all.
We approach this logwall feature using the wall accessories for the modeling (see the video link on what we've done so far), while cutting list & labels using an APi.
Yes Barry, we can almost accomplish anything with accessories. 🙂

This is how my covering works too! I have a few less log options but mine is for framing and finishes.

Looks great!

Hello Barry,
Here's a screenshot to show what I was after: Hotspots / aperture shape based on logheight and starting logheight. I'm sure those will be derived from the add-on, so no more dabbling in gdl for that purpose.
Thank you very much for the replys!
