We have at least 3 different pronunciations within our office alone!
What is the official line for west of the Rockies?. (Never mind what it might be called in Lapland:)
Is it "Arca" or "Archa" or "Archi" or something else?

How do you pronounce architect west of the rockies? Now, instead of saying "tect", say "cad".

Perhaps we should spell it "Årkïtâlq"
It may not be right, but it looks so cool and international.

You might not realise it, but it also sounds cool, and rhymes.
The Ã… is pronounced like the A in talk!

-with "ch" pronounced like in "charlie"
or
-with "ch" pronounced like in "architecture"
I've head users, even advanced ones, using one or another pronunciation, both of them equally frequently. My personal opinion is that the latter is correct - but I'd like to hear other opinions and especially a first-hand conformation from an official representative (so that it can be cited when needed...

"Are Key Cad"
If you pronounce it ArchieCAD, [with a 'soft' "ch"] you risk confusion with the CAD applications authored by the cartoon characters in Bob Montana's comic strip "Archie."
ReggieCAD, where the cursor just jerks.
VeronikaCAD, for drawing sensual curves.
and
JugheadCAD, for drawing only in 2D like AutoCAD

My reaction comes from being taunted in high school after designing the school's staging of "A Man for All Seasons" and being overly proud of it.
"Hey, here comes the Archie-tect!!!"
But that was not the total of all of the taunting considering that there were plenty of flowing robes and leotards involved in the production.
Good riddance to those louts.

Those guys were merely influenced in their pronunciation by the 70's television show ArHee-Haw where sophisticated musicians and entertainers pretended to be hicks with grass in their teeth, dressing in gingham and playing banjos at their drafting boards.
Written by Canadians, of course, just like most of American humor.

I call it Arc i CAD
Like Architect, and I think that makes sense.
But I hear a bunch of people calling it Archi-cad, like a chia pet and it drives me nuts.
So, in order for me to correct them I need to know I am right, any thoughts?

when it ticked me off, I pronounced it
Ache-ee-cad.

I find exaggerating the Arr quite therapeutic when the program annoys me.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrchicad!
But you are right, it is pronounced Arr-kee-cad just like Arr-kee-tect.
