AC12 running as slowly as AC11 and AC10 - pls help

Hi

i thought the big whoop-di-do about v12 was that it was gonna run oh so much faster than v11...that it was gonna be able to access both processors (that's the dual core, right?). Well, it's running so slowly that i feel i can only bill 20min of every hour.

is there some switch or something i should set differently on my mac?

any help would be appreciated

thanks
moj

Something else is obviously amiss, as with the configuration that you list in your signature, you should see a significant speed-up with 12. But, do note that the increased speed only happens during certain operations, primarily involving 3D generation such as section/elevation generation and 3D window generation.

Are you accessing any files over a network?

Hi Karl
thank you for for your response

i'm not accessing any files over a network
i find that when i start laying out in publisher it is especially slow and it is even slow just drawing!

if it's just the 3D and section/elevation generation that is meant to have speeded up then i might just consider going back to AutoCAD 2D work, especially on projects that don't require 3D. Some of our projects are outsourced to other firms , this means we get DWG files back and it is cost prohibitive to create 3D files from these. In fact this particularly slow file is one that has very little 3D...just 2D, fills and a very few objects (loos, basins, etc.)...which i thought would actually make it much faster.

i have been very disappointed since AC10, which also coincided with my change from PC to mac - AC7&8 were super fast on my PC (yes, a long time ago now).

I have been using AC10 (just coming to the end of a 2yr project) while my two colleagues have recently (4months ago) started using AC11. I started helping out on one of these projects and found that it was incredibly slow; installed AC12 thinking it would speed up but it did not make the slightest bit of difference.

thanks anyway

AC 10, 11 and 12 should be superfast on the machine you have listed. Could be something weird like bad communication with your WIBU key for some reason, or that somehow the PPC version was installed instead of the Intel version, or who knows. Probably need to get in touch with UK tech support, as what you report is quite definitely abnormal.

Cheers,
Karl
