ARCHIFORMA PROBLEM

Anonymous

downloaded the update version for 8.1 and now it wants some keycode. Dont want to call Itally. I bought this software and I dont believe it should be my responsibility to figure anything out in order to use it. Used it in AC 7 and should be able to use it in AC 8. This has now cost me atleast 2 hours. Anyone out there ever get angry at this kind of stuff?

I just wont use thier software any more! Thanks alot Cigraph

Cool down, buddy!

No need to phone Italy, or to whine here! Fabrizio is EXTREMELY responsive to his customers, and he or someone will respond very quickly to a simple email.

Wow. Another hothead.

So where is your key code? I keep a written list of serial numbers to all the software I own, just in case.

Do you feel that software makers should just post their stuff on web sites for anyone to freely download? Of course, no one would steal it - only people who actually own the software would ever visit Cigraph's web site to download their excellent products. So you are right: Protection codes - who needs 'em? Being realistic, companies like Cigraph could employ psychics to look into the hearts of downloaders to see if they are sincere - ethereal spyware, if you will. Between calls on the Psychics' Hotline.

Sure, things go wrong, but in the relationship between software maker and licensee, Cigraph is excellent. I've visited their offices near Venice and it is amazing what they pump out of there with just a bunch of keyboards. And smokes.

I have my achiforma serial number, this should have been enough, but they have added a new number of some kind which I could not find anywhere. It has somthing to do with the dongle (wibu key) so that sombody cant run 2 copies at once. They seem to be more worried about getting cheated than they do about their customers. Which do you guys think was harder,
letting current users get the 8.0 update using there existing serial number, or adding this complex wibukey
protection system. and not even providing a tech support phone number.

There should have been a location where I downloaded from to allow those who allready had archiforma.

Cigraph does an excellent job of customer support, but their website leaves a bit to be desired. They should have clear instructions for upgrading easily accessible from their home page.

Typically their registration process is quite simple. As I recall it goes something like: Install the add-on Launch the add-on (in ArchiCAD). Click the button to register. [web browser launches] WIBU key number is automatically read. Enter your serial number. An unlock code is provided which enables the add-on for that particular key.

Tryed that too. No Luck.
Maybe I will try making what I need in 7.0 and pasting it into 8.1 and if that does not work will see what time it is in Italy and figure out what the ++ means in front of the phone # and try to call. No answer to my email yet.
of course can't really expect one sence its just a paste of my first post Let this get the best of me, and that is my fault.
Even tryed just using the demo deal, but it only allows 10 steps and because the interface has changed I used them up trying to find the instructions button which has ither been removed or wasn't working.
Usualy in this situation I would just repurchase the software and be done with it....

First of all I really don’t understand why you immediately got angry with us!
When we decided to change or better to introduce our new protection system we immediately provided all our distributors with the needed new Registration IDs (free of charge!) for all the existing users.
Unfortunately we don’t directly sell to the users but we use a Distributors channel (usually the same that GS uses) so we don’t know at all the names of our customers (and I can swear our web site doesn’t collect any info from the web-surfers) and we cannot reach them in any way: we always trusted our partners (distributors/resellers) were able to forward this information to their (us) users.

The only thing you have to do is contact you local dealer (I mean who sold you the product) and ask for you free of charge update and he will provide you with it, nothing else!
If he will refuse this please send me an e-mail and we will find a solution for you.

Sorry if you are not happy with this solution…

BTW if you write:

“because the interface has changed I used them up trying to find the instructions button which has ither been removed or wasn't working.”

This means you didn’t download the 1.x version (the free update) because it is just like the 1.0 (it has been only re-compiled for compatibility reason with the last versions of ArchiCAD).
Probably you downloaded the new 2.x version that isn’t a free update…

In any case, you need a Registration ID, that will be provide (once again FREE-OF-CHARGE) by who sold you the first version.

Fabrizio and Talkers,

My approach to solving this problem was wrong. and embarrassing. Please forgive.

Fabrizio, your solution makes perfect sence, have all the documentation but could not remember how I purchased this software. It was my AC rep. who was the first person called , but couldn't reach him. computers and softwear can be quite demanding sometimes and for the last couple of weeks no exceptions here (No excuse) but when I was finally getting some work done and needed Archiforma ... not a good day.

I was able to make what I needed in 7 and paste into 8
last night.

Thank You, am much better now, and hope you all have a great day
