Hello,
My coworkers have been having problems with freezing and slowness in ArchiCAD but not in other programs (including PlotMaker). Their computers are fairly new (one is 6 months old the other 2 yrs), running on Windows XP. We are using peer to peer sharing network where my computer serves as the server. I haven't run into this problem yet, I have a new, more powerful computer, also running on Win XP.
Problem:
1. After ArchiCAD starts up (all libraries loaded), all operations are inhibited, except the mouse movement and zoom. So basically you cannot select an object, a tool, or anything except moving the mouse cursor and scrolling its wheel to zoom. This can last up to 1 minute and it occurs more often when opening more than 1 Archicad project.
2. After staying in one program for a long time (~0.5 - 1 hr.) then switching between programs would slow down, especially with 2 or more Archicad projects open at the same time.
Tried:
1. Archicad runs faster when opening the project from the computer’s own C drive.
2. Without opening Archicad when computer starts up, opening a network folder is very slow
We’ve tested several possibilities but still don’t know if this is a network problem or because Archicad has a bug. One person already installed the new update and when it didn’t solve the problem he reinstalled A 9.0. However, the problem still persists.
One other point: our network cables are 25’ to 50’ long when each of our stations are only less than 2 feet from the ports. So we end up coiling the extra cables up. Would this deplete or slow down any information that we share?
