License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Archicad 13, lags 1min., when doing 'nothing'...

My girlfriend uses AC13, and when she's doing nothing for a few seconds (getting a marker or a drink etc.), the program hangs for a good minute.
After that everything works well again, untill she stops doing stuff again.
I told her to avoid 'doing nothing', but that didn't work lol.

She's using an IBM laptop, thinkpad T43p.
specs:
Intel Mobile Pentium M 760(2.0GHz)
2GB Memory
60GB disk
128 MB ATI Mobility FIRE GL V3200
Microsoft Windows XP SP3

ArchiCAD may just be executing an autosave. Does the bulldozer cursor appear?

If so, you could always adjust the autosave settings in the work environment.

That laptop isn't very highly spec'd either so I imagine it would take a while to save. If it were me I don't think I'd be running any other program at the same time. It ~may~ improve performance, but an autosave is probably slowed down by the HDD speed, so the best option may be to dial out the time between saves and/or lower the amount of data that is being saved by reducing any unwanted information, if that's an option.

Cheers,

Yeah, the laptop isn't really up to date lol. But I think I got it fixed already, checked the suspend autosafe box... Hopefully it will help.
Thx

That will probably make matters worse, as ArchiCAD won't wait for her to stop before autosaving. What you need to do is either turn autosave off altogether (which is risky) or increase the number of seconds or steps between autosaves (less risky).

Glekke:

Also, if she can get in the habit of saving whenever she pauses, that will help with not losing work and extending the autosave timing. Autosave should not be depended on 100%.
