Automated install problems with Archicad V10 (silent install

Anonymous
Not applicable
trying to install Archicad V10 with a silent install it is the EDU version. I got the following command line to run

"\\my server\my folder\my subfolder\archicad 10\setup.exe" -W log.record=yes

The problem is the program does not create a script (log file with installation settings anywhere) after installation. Has anyone else had problems with trying to create a silent install as i am wanting to automate this through a group policy script via servers.

tried an msi but that has different errors namely 1327 errors

Any advice greatly recieved.

cheers

The best way is to drag the setup.exe into the 'Run' dialog to make sure you don't mistype the path. thean add -W log.record=yes

If you did it right, the installer will give you a third install option, called Advanced (as opposed to normal install, when you have only two: Typical/Custom) Select Advanced

If this option does not appear, you did sg. wrong.

I have tried this exactly as you have written but i do not get the option of advanced. Is there not something else i have to , maybe the serial code i have is not meant for this type of installation ?

The Archicad user guide which is shipped with the product omits the fact that if you don't populate the company defaults folder in your install point you will not see the advanced option.
Since we want the program as per a standard install we have copied the defaults from a vanilla install on a reference PC.

Running set-up with the -W log.record=yes switch should work after you have populated that folder.

This will create a pre configured install which requires minimal user input.
To run this silently add -silent to the end of command line.

ArchiCAd uses Installshield Universal for deployment which is Java based and multiplatform. great for them but a pain for anyone who needs an MSI for managed distribution.

Graphisoft if you decide to do an MSI based installer, I'll have one along with my hovercar and all of the other 21st century technology which I have yet to recieve

maybe you should try the process of creating the answer file on a local pc, not on the server. maybe the setup routine have problems to write the file on a unc path. in my case i had no problems (local).

does anyone have knowledge about installing updates silently? if so pls take a look at: http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=12800

thanks and good luck!
