Correct Pronunciation of ArchiCAD

OK-- It has bugged me for the longest time. What is the proper pronunciation for "Archicad"?

We have at least 3 different pronunciations within our office alone!

What is the official line for west of the Rockies?. (Never mind what it might be called in Lapland:)

Is it "Arca" or "Archa" or "Archi" or something else?

The old escribe forums (pre-dated these forums on the gs web server) appear to have been erased; shame. I recall some Europeans there used arHee-CAD, perhaps the guteral 'h'.

Right.
Those guys were merely influenced in their pronunciation by the 70's television show ArHee-Haw where sophisticated musicians and entertainers pretended to be hicks with grass in their teeth, dressing in gingham and playing banjos at their drafting boards.

Written by Canadians, of course, just like most of American humor.

The "guteral H" is actually the one "non-Archie" variant that is most often used in the continental (non-English) Europe, as that is how "ch" in "architect" is pronounced in most other European languages (with most probable roots in the Greek language, from which the expression (arkhitekton: arkhi, chief + tekton, builder") came from.

How do you guys say it.
I call it Arc i CAD
Like Architect, and I think that makes sense.
But I hear a bunch of people calling it Archi-cad, like a chia pet and it drives me nuts.

So, in order for me to correct them I need to know I am right, any thoughts?

I find exaggerating the Arr quite therapeutic when the program annoys me.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrchicad!

But you are right, it is pronounced Arr-kee-cad just like Arr-kee-tect.

Yes, "Archeecad" is our usual term for it when it is not behaving too.

Late on Saturday night, I make these things up in the hope of posting them someday if the chance occurs.
That's what old people do.

BTW: it is just cut and paste.
