How to draw a stand-alone detail?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good way of drawing stand-aolone, standard details (primarily structural) that I do not want to be part of a story, section, or an automatically-created detail? Should I be using AC or is it better to use Plotmaker?

As always, thanks for the help

Best way is to use the "Create a new independent detail" tool in ArchiCad. There you could draw what ever you want in 2d.

If you want the detail to be completely independent (for reuse in other projects), you can save it as a module to be imported and modified in future work.

The simplest way is to select the entire drawing and then go to "File > Save as..." and choose "Module" as the format. There is also an option to do this under "File > Hotlinks & Modules". If you use the latter approach, make sure that the check boxes at the bottom of the save dialog are NOT checked.
