I think if you open the AC7 version file in AC9 and save it, you will then be able to open that saved file in AC11.

Backward compatibility is a problem. Trying to open a 15 year old project would be a challenge. I am not sure any computer I have will open mac OS9. If I could, how many steps would it take?
