When a .PLN file is transfered via iPod to my home machine (which of course is not on my office network), the transferred file now on my Desktop takes nearly 45 minutes to open before finally allowing me to load the libraries and begin working on the file. What a drag!
Are any other Mac users experiencing this problem, and what would be the potential solution? I'm suspecting ArchiCAD maybe searching for the office network library which causes the delay in opening the file. Any suggestions?
Thanks again for any help in advance.

I think you will find Archicad is trying to access the libraries of the original file.
Remove the library references before you copy to the iPod and that should do the trick.

alternatively, set up a network location that has no connection ports open . select this location prior to opening the file: your mac won't be able to search any network for the libraries, so will instantly give you the library manager dialogue.
taking this one step further: i have a blank file with just my local libraries attached. i open this first and at the point the library manager pops up simply click "use active libraries".
i must say that i haven't experienced that kind of wait since 8.0/OSX.2 though.

Thanks Aussie John and ArchiBen - both good suggestions. I'll try both of those suggestions this evening again. It's great to see this Forum is useful!

I'm now at home and have successfully opened the same file after removing the library references, per AussieJohn's suggestion. It still takes about 4 minutes to get past the spinning-beachball-from-hell before the Library Manager pops ups, but at least it's more manageable than 45 minutes....
I'd try Archiben's suggestion, but I need to keep my ethernet port open so I can access the AC keyserver at my office through my home DSL connection. Unless I'm misunderstanding his suggestion, I guess that won't work for me unless I use a USB donglekey. Please correct me if I'm wrong...
Thanks again for the help.

- network location normal: start archiCAD and open the 'local libraries' file i mentioned in the above post.
- with archiCAD now open, change your network location to the 'no connection' one with no open ports and cross your fingers . . .
- open the file you've transported home and click 'use active libraries' in the library manager dialogue.
- switch your network location back to normal in the hope that archiCAD hasn't tried to ping the keyserver during the process.
we are, of course, assuming that this
