Problem opening file with trial version

He has done it again and waited till the last minute to complete his assignment.
My son has a project due tomorrow in HS and is learning Archicad 13. We downloaded the trial version hoping that he could open the project here at home but no matter what version he saves the file in we can not open it with the trial version. Is the ability to open other files of Archicad permanently disabled with the trial version? Is there a student version that can be downloaded without sending in all his student paper work and waiting for the approval process?

you could try saving an IFC file and then opening that in the trial version.

The education version is deliberately non-compatible with the professional version.
