!Restored: New PC configuration

Hi folks,

I'm planning to buy a new pc and I'd like to see some feedback about this configuration:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 - 2.33 Ghz
RAM: 3Gb DDR2 800MHz
Graphics: NVidia GeForce 8500GT Silent, 512Mb, PCI-e
HD: Samsung SpinPoint (HD321KJ), 320Gb, 7.200Rpm, 16Mb, SATA2
DVD: Samsung SH-S203N Black Bulk
Monitor: HP W2007h 20"
OS: Windows Vista Business OEM

I intend to use it with ArchiCAD 11 and Artlantis Studio in a small practice architectural office...
What do you think?

I'd like to hear some feedback as well as I'm considering a new system as well. Long ago, I was knowledgeable about what made a good system and what doesn't but I have no clue today.

Currently my system is:
Gateway GT5014
Pentium D 2.80Ghz
3mb RAM
GeForce FX 5200 video

I find it much slower than I'd like when changing views and updating layouts. Would a new system as Braza describes above provide noticably better performance? What are the critical factors? (CPU, RAM, Video, All of the above?)

Hi Chris,

Well... What I discovered is that there is no such thing as "Best configuration"...
The configuration I put here a week ago is no more valid in terms of cost/benefit...
For example: The CPU prices for the Quad Q6600 have substantially decreased as well as graphic cards and so on.
IMHO CAD/BIM applications need:
Lots of CPU capabilities. (My choice: Quad Q6600 2.4 MHz)
Lots of RAM. (My choice: 4 Gb with Win XP 64 bits)
A top-middle Graphic Card, if you don't use the opengl for 3d view;
If so a top-gun graphic card with lots of memory (GPU are used just to built the image in your screen, not to calculate 3d poly).
