Selection lag

I have been having an annoying problem for a while and trying to ignore it. Basically it is a lag in the loading of the info box after I select an item. If I select an item then immediately click somewhere else before the info box items have loaded the item (2d or 3D) is moved to where I clicked. I have to wait for about 1/2 sec till all the info box items have opened (they scroll from left to right across the screen) then I carry on as usual. However if I select a second item of the same type the info box loads instantly. What gives and how do I fix it?

Yes I did find a solution as it is no longer happening. To be honest I am not 100% how I fixed it though! One thing I did was deactivate all the windows 7 'aero' features and went back to a classic windows interface. Aero was always a RAM hog so I often disabled it when I needed to in the past but it didn't seem to cause this problem then. I also cleaned up my system, installed iolo system mechanic to defrag and clean up registry and ram etc and a number of other things. In the end my system is back working how it should. Bottom line is I don't think it was an Archicad issue but an OS or system issue. Good luck with finding your fix.

ok. so i reverted back to windows clasic mode.. but still the same problem.
next i did : disk defrag, disk cleaner, registry defrag and reg cleaner

.. and still same laggy effect. .

this never happend to me on a x32 sistem , only since i switched to a x64 one

would you be so kind as to tell me what "a number of other things. " you did on your sistem so that the problem got fixed.?

btw: i am using a i7 940 procesor, 6 Gb RAM with win7 x64.

We are going back a few weeks now so I am really struggling to remember exactly what it was that I did. I'm pretty sure the problem eventually resolved itself after I installed Iolo system mechanic (only costs $39). This software has a lot of tools like starup optimizer, memory defrag, program accelerator, drive accelerator, file cleanup, registry repair, registry tuner, disc medic etc. I ran most of them.

I have just tried turning on windows aero again. There is a noticeable slow down of the info box loading when I do this but NOT to the extent that I was having problems with before. In fact it is useable on aero for me at the moment (aside from the video card ram issue) so it may not have had anything to do with my issues.

Hope this helps.

it works !

i just instaled the trial version ( hey, i'm a student ) and fixed all the problems it found - most of them were registry related. - and a after the required reboot, the info box works just fine, even with all the windows aero features turned on.

thank you for all your support and just in time reply !

...now i can really go back to finishing my school project.

I'm glad it worked. I thought it had been the system mechanic that solved my problem. Good luck with your school project.
