I recommend devoting your time to figuring out how to get the best looking PDF that you can and use that as your standard for output.
What do you recommend for printing multiple and even collated sets?Collating speed depends on the output device. For collating plots to an Océ TDS400 I used to plot to a spool folder locally and then drag copies (one for each set to be plotted) to the plot cue (on the Oce server). For prints it depends on the drivers and whether the processing is being done in the computer or the printer. I've seen some machines that are dead slow at collating and others that do it just about as fast as straight printing.
I use to plot (HP DesignJet) and then one I got an OCE 9400 printer I would save PLT files and use Print Exec LT. My OCE seems very slow especially if I collate sets. If I run one page multiple times and manually collate the speed of each printout seems to increase. Lately while now using AC10 I have changed to Printing.
Previously (I think back with AC9 or even AC8 w/ PM3) I was having trouble creating PDF's and retaining the Font (MrHand). Forgot if I "fixed" that. Will this be a problem?Probably not. It may depend on the typeface. I haven seen any font problems in PDF for a long time.
