Base Cabinet objects with 'open backs'?

here's the deal.
we need to have two cabinet objects back to back but...we need the back panel of the object to have an 'open' back. Meaning we need to see thru the cabinet object.
how would you accomplish this WITHOUT using "operators" such as slabs that you place on hidden layers...?

I have made the decision to as of now not request or ask for any type of money for my work. Until such a time that i feel like ive gotten good enough to really ask for money. So should i get a chance this weekend i will make a video tutorial with a write up for everyone to see.

Rob,
Ages ago I wrote my own cabinet object which I have used in all my work ever since. It has the option to turn off the cabinet back as you wish. PM me if you are interested (No CC rigamarole just don't resell it).

So any GDL Object coming from Graphisoft that has this license type (you can check the license type of any object by opening the object for editing, then check the License field in the Details page) cannot be modified.
It can be redistributed only unchanged and in whole.
Hmm... Some years ago, there were errors in the door openings objects (I think it was v. 10) which I corrected and uploaded to the depository. Looks like I violated the license?

Holy Moly!
Rob, just convert the cabinet to a Morph, delete the back, and resave as a new object. Done. Probably less time than writing the post explaining what you are trying to achieve.

This topic side-stepped into a discussion of whether we (users) are allowed to modify the standard library parts distributed with AC.

I've broken that discussion out here:
http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=47320
where it can be continued.

The net answer for this topic is that any of us can provide the steps necessary to modify the object to not display the backs... but was can NOT post the modified object itself. To understand this more fully, or comment further on the policy - vs the base cabinet issue - please go to the topic linked above. Thank you! 🙂

Rob,

So that one of us can give you the steps for turning off the cabinet backs (if you still care??) - please give the names of the cabinet parts you are interested in, or at least which library version (17? 18?) you're using.
