Custom door leafs disappearing

Hey ArchiCAD enthusiasts!

I've been absolutely enamored with ArchiCAD lately, and I'm usually the first to recommend it. However, I've hit a bit of a snag and could use your collective brilliance.

My particular woe lies in the realm of custom door leafs, specifically garage door leafs. Now, I know the sleek glass garage door panels are all the rage these days, but alas, Graphisoft hasn't caught up with the trend.

After attempting to create a custom leaf and adding it to my embedded library, I'm faced with the peculiar situation of seeing it in my library but finding it mysteriously absent in 2D/3D views. Yes, I've combed through overrides and renovation filters, but the phantom door remains.

So, ArchiCAD gurus, can you shed some light on why this might be happening? Perhaps share a workaround or solution? I've even considered starting a support group for those of us yearning for barn doors in the library options!

Let's pool our expertise and make ArchiCAD even greater together. Screenshots attached for your sleuthing pleasure.

Thanks a million!

Thanks again.

To be clear Yes the door leaf does show up in the list of available custom leaf options.  In Plan view it shows as well.  But not in a 3D view or Elevation.  And not in the "preview" window of the tool settings.

I'll See if I can find the LCF file and delete it later.  Its taken to much time time so its time to Hack it.  Its almost like the thing is hidden.  But I went back and checked renovation settings on the original slabs, all are set to new.

Thanks

Don't delete any LCF file.

It is only the individual 'Door_Panel_Collection' file that is the problem.

But in your case it is not the problem at all, because you say you can see the door leaf names in the list.

That means it is all working OK.

I would suspect it is a problem with the door leaf object itself, but what that could be I don't know without seeing one of the door leaf objects.

You could attach one (that doesn't work) to a post here and I could have a look at it.

I would but i'm not sure how to attach a .gsm file? I get a "not Supported" message when I try.

In the Library Manager you will see the custom door leaf object.

Save it out to your hard drive and then you should be able to drag and drop it in the panel below the reply or you can browse for it.

Thanks Barry,

I thought I did that but let me try again.

Nope.... see attached screen shot of the message. appears the file type is the issue?

Strange because I managed to attach a GSM file (although I did get error messages sometimes).

Fail-safe it to just add it to a ZIP file and then attach the ZIP file - they are definitely allowed.

I changed to Chrome and now it works.  Safari.. I need to quit it.

The Zip is attached thanks for looking into this.

Thanks for the file.

I would never have figured it out without it.

You must have had a 3D cutting plane active when you saved the object?

Because there is one in the script.

As soon as I comment it out, your object works.

I created the same door and you can see in my attempt there is no 'CUTPLANE' command.

So open the object script and comment out or delete the lines I have highlighted.

Then save the object and it should all be good.

OK wow, I've never gotten into the scrip, but I'll give it a try.  Could I also just make a new object and make sure there are no cutting planes active when I do?

Thanks again for spending time on this.  I'll give it a shot later today.

Sure.

That is exactly what I did.

I re-created your door myself and there were no cutting planes.
