GDL Central plug-in not working with Safari

I can get the GDL Central plugin to work with Internet Explorer on the Mac in OSX, but I cannot get it to work with Safari, and it sort of works but crashes FireFox.

Does the plugin by default set itself up during installation for Internet Explorer, or rather, was it only written for Internet Explorer.

Given that IE is dead on the Mac, shouldnt GS make this plugin available for Safari or FireFox for us lowly Mac folks.......or does it and I have done something wrong during installation.

Thanks in advance!

I don't use Firefox but Safari and I can assure you that it does not function with him. take a look to this page where Graphisoft speek about compatibilities
http://www.graphisoft.com/products/object_technology/developer_zone/programwebcontrol.html .
Firefox dont works with it on Mac Os X but Mozilla works with it in Mac OS Classic.
For Safari and Firefox graphisoft promises a new compatible version of GDL Web Plug In soon. But i don't know when…

On Mac OS X it works with Netscape too…

You don't do anything wrong…
Not completely, i just install a version of Explorer who works with Mac Os X, only to use the GDL Web Plug in 2.01.
You can you can obtain information about Explorer for Mac OS X here http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/internetexplorer.html

Fmr,

Again, thank you for your reply. I don't know how hard it is for GS to write this plugin for OS X, but you would think that now that OS X is on its fourth generation and quite stable, that GS would get going with the plugin.

The plugin will, beginning with version 9.0, supprt IE on Windows and Safari on MacOS X. Nothing else. Thats definitively told by GS.

The plugin 2.01 works with Firefox on Windows and MacOS X. Not stable and not working with all sites, but most pure (no Java Script) implemented objects are displayed. E.g. the example-page on gdl-central.com is a working one.

You have to install a Netscape browser first. The install the plugin and then you have to transfer the files of the plugin from the netscape to the firefox settings folder (Win). On MacOS X the plugin should be located in the "Internet plugins"-folder of the library. AFAIK Safari and FF share this source. Go to search button on this site to find more informations. I had a longer thread here about it.

To make Java run reliably in recent versions of Firefox, Mozilla and Netscape on MacOSX you may want to install the Java Embedding Plugin, http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23790
that lets these browsers use Apple's latest Javas, versions 1.4.x and 1.5.
