Getting windows and doors to show on story below

When I am drawing floor framing or roof framing plans, I have the walls below showing so I can show where supporting beams and headers are located. The doors and windows are showing in the walls. These walls, doors and windows are assigned a grey pen so the items are distinct from the actual framing items (beams, joists, trusses).
I have been doing this by drawing the joists etc on the same story as the walls. I have a story structure of floor, top of wall, next floor. I prefer to do it this way as I can assign the wall heights from floor to top of wall rather than assign a deduction for the top of wall if I used a floor to floor story structure.
I see that if I place the joists on the top of wall story and set the extent of the cutting plane below the top of the wall, the walls below will show up on the plan (if I set the walls to show on relevant stories). This is great but the windows and doors don't show which I need.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how this might work?

I'm not sure what are you trying to achieve. PrintScreen would be helpful.

There is always a bit of a cheat with levels. You can use Trace tool and make it printable in Print/Save option. Another way might be to compose two drawings on the layout.
This is a solution when there is no way to set up views and level as you like.. but usually, there is

Actually, the solution was quite simple. I just set the cutting plane level to a minus number to intersect the doors and windows. Graphic overrides take care of how the joists and walls look.

A negative value? So you Story Levels are not actually related the floors themselves?
