How to add downloaded objects?

i have downloaded some objects( from www.archibase.net ) i don't know to add it correctly. The objects are in .gsm , .3ds format. the shape appears but the texture don't, everthing is gray. I use archicad 11 EDU, and i add it with objects->Load other objects->from file dialog box.

That should work.
Is it possible that the object is in AC12 version format?

This is almost normal, because gsm objects on archibase are often translated from 3ds files, without material definition.
And thy are very very heavy.

You will need to open up the library part to see exactly how (and if) the materials are defined.
