How to create library for details

I need to have a way of keeping construction details separate from the archicad file im working on. Ive looked into using modules and also having a separate archicad file all together and just copying across the details i need from there. These might not be suitable though?

Is it possible to have an archicad library for details - similar to the objects library in archicad? or is there another way to store the details?

It's pretty typical to have a file that contains only office-standard details, each in its own detail window. The key is using a numbering system that keeps the details organized. Once you have this, you can create layouts for reference. One fairly fast way to get the details over to your main file is to create a publisher set in the detail file that publishes PMKs to the project folder. You can drag whichever details you want to the publisher set and then publish. Then bring the PMKs onto your project's layout. This creates a fairly compact project file, too, which is quick to regen.

I dont know what a PMK file is? When in the organizer it only comes up with options for PDF, DWG and BIMx Hyper Model Publisher Sets?

PMK is the old Plotmaker file format. It's kind of like a PDF, except in ArchiCAD format. It keeps the line types, line weights, and scale. However, it's very compact, and still quite useful, especially for large projects. I think you can now only get to it by selecting this file format in Publisher. Use your Help menu for more information. You can drag individual detail Views directly into Publisher, and then print them all as PMKs at one time.
