Hi All

I keep getting this error message when I am using the marquee in the 3d environment. Any suggestions on how I can make it go away? It happens with every change that I make. Thanks

The BINARY surprises me ... is it possible that 'panel door' is a custom door panel that you created and either did not save as editable GDL, or created it from a 3d dwg?

Yes, that's right, it's a library part that I created. I usually don't save custom library parts as editable GDL...because I don't know much about the GDL side of things. Should I be doing this as a general rule of thumb?
Thanks!

Hi Olivia,

There is certainly no harm in saving custom parts as editable GDL, so go ahead and save in this format by default. If it still produces an error you can open the object and see which part is not working.

The 3D checking of ArchiCAD got better for v12 a bit. It can now detect some irregularities in the binaries, too. There is a way to transform old defective binaries into new healthy ones.
  • Place the old object into the project origin of a new project.
Get an orthogonal 3D top view of it - here you get the errors/warnings about the model.
Save it as a new binary object.
Normally, this creates a brand new 3D binary.

I'm not sure if it is a solution for your current problem, but I wanted this community to know about it.

Great to know; thanks Zsolt. Will this be added to the Wiki and/or put in the tips & tricks section?

I'll let the Technical Support know about this issue. I guess they will publish it soon.
