Our office template has a Office ARCHICAD library that contains various manufacturer's library parts, surface images, etc. It's size is 1.5gigs, and lives on the BIMcloud. So every project file in our office has this library linked.
I'm wondering whether the size of this library has any effect of the performance of our files. Is 1.5gigs too large? Our computers are just medium range computers, not anything state of the art.

In my opinion I would not have a single massive library such as this, as every time you perform a file operation (open, close, hotline, reload library etc) this file would need to be copied accross the network or at least be scanned for changes and this will create much more unnecessary network activity and generally slow things down.
I would break the library up, you just need to work out a logic to this break up.

Scott
