SOLVED!

Migrating Issue 26 to 27

Hello,

We're experiencing an issue with doors and libraries not loading correctly in Archicad 27 after migrating a project from Archicad 26.

We've tried copying and pasting from the Archicad 26 file, migrating libraries, inserting objects, and reloading all relevant libraries correctly - but nothing has resolved the issue. Everything works fine in Archicad 26, but in Archicad 27 the doors and associated libraries will not load (I can copy into a new plain file).

Could this be a bug, or is there a known solution?

Operating system used: Windows

Deleting the 'Built in Library' worked! All missing doors and objects are back.

Thanks Barry!!! šŸ˜€

That is good to know.

I had run out of ideas otherwise.

Dear Barry,

Greetings. I noticed your comment regarding the incompatibility of Archicad objects across different language versions of the software. I am writing to seek your clarification on a related question: does this incompatibility imply that if a model is created using the software in Language A, saved, and then sent to a client who uses the software in Language B, there may be issues such as failure to open the file or unexpected bugs within the file?

We are about to commence a cross-border project, and thus, I would greatly appreciate your insights into the potential impacts of collaborating with Archicad across different language versions.

Thank you very much for your time and guidance.

Best regards,

Betty.

The files themselves will open in any language (obviously it will not translate the text in the files).

The software will be in the specific language of the user, and this will have no effect on the file contents.

In 27 and before there are different libraries for the different language versions.

They all work perfectly fine in all language versions, so long as you can understand the language.

It seems each country seems to have their own preferences for object.

The best example is the difference between doors and window in the INT library and USA library.

Totally different objects, all in English, but they work perfectly fine if you load the correct library.

Then you will have other specific libraries for Germany, Japan, etc., that will be in those languages.

It is not recommended to load the entire INT and USA (or other language) libraries together as there will be a lot of duplication.

But you can load parts of them.

Not all objects are the same in all languages, so you can end up with missing objects if you try to swap libraries.

28+ changes things.

You still have various country specific libraries, but these can be loaded and used in any software language.

The default template controls the language you will see in the object interface.

There is a preference in the settings to choose the preferred language the objects use.

I have not tried to change it for working in different languages, but it is saved with the file.

You can add more than one language to the list and they can be re-arranged.

But you would need to do this every time you open the file in the different language software.
