Migrating highly modified template from 27 to 28

Dear colleagues

We want to migrate a highly modified Archicad template from version 27 to 28. As this might be quite some effort we want to check with you if there’s any issues we should be aware of before doing so?

The team doing the migration is highly experienced in Archicad and is aware of all the standard tasks this project brings. So the questions are:

• Are there known problems with migrated files after the migration?
• Is the process with libraries still the same (regarding global library for example)
• Our customer works with the Swiss template with the INT library: Are the elements of the INT library 27 the same as in the global library?
• How will elements of the INT library 27 be migrated, if we’d like to work with the global library in future?

Migrating is the same as before, except for the library.

There is no migration from the 27 monolith library to the 28 global libraries.

If you have used objects in your template, you have to replace them with the equivalent 28 object.

You will soon see a list of 'missing' objects if you remove the 27 libraries (and migration libraries) and just load the 28 global libraries.

This will also affect your favourites if you have any set up to use the old library parts.

These too need to be edited to refer to the 28 objects.

There is a tool you can download to help with the favourite migration, but not the library migration.

Also if your template uses the default Graphisoft attributes (pens, fills, linetypes, materials, etc.) then you can just swap the libraries.

If you use custom attributes and find that you are always changing settings in objects (or have set up favourites to change them for you) then you can look into the Mapping Value Table.

It is a very messy and manual process at the moment, but you can map the global library to use your attributes.

Do not mistake the 28 monolith library for an actual version 28 library.

It is not.

It is just the 27 library renamed as 28.
