Modify a created object

Have created a simple gsm object through typical AC process (3d window, save as object). Now I need to make some modifications to it. Typically I have kept the original elements from which I made the object and gone back and modifed them, then created the object all over again. Usually named it the same thing in the hope it would simply update the existing object. Sometimes it updates, sometimes it doesn't.

Why won't it update at times? And also, is there another way to modify existing objects without getting into too musch GDL mumbo jumbo? It would be very nice if they could be modified the same way a profile can be modified.

thanks

It is due to internal id.
If You save the object again it gets the next number...and AC recognizes object first by that number and second by name.
Sometimes it is good sometimes bad.

Seems very inefficient. Should be easier than that. Will add it to the wishes post.

You would probably have no sideffects if the file You are creating was saved on disk first not the internal library. Than removed the original and the new file placed into the library after renaming (AC will prevent You from saving under the same name that is used in the loaded library).
You can also test another way - remove the old file from the internal library, than save the new under the old name.

I'll try it, but it seems like AC could come up with something a bit more streamlined.
