Greetings Mukster.
Had this problem for years.
Whenever I've had a slow copy/paste it's because there are duplicates in the libraries.
This happens when you use old libraries or copy/paste from other projects with old libraries.
Even if I copy/paste from old files, the duplicates return.
So If you find a project file starts to go slow on the copy/paste, then you'll have to do this process every time.
See below.
If you go into the library manager, look into the embedded libraries, look and find duplicate objects then delete then and reload the library. If that's the problem, then it should come right.
I hope this helps!

How do you figure out which are the duplicates? I had to take a year off to get my leg amputated, and I've forgotten a bunch of stuff and they added a bunch of stuff

The duplicates are most likely in your embedded library and look like the screenshot below.
If you strip your embedded library to the bare minimum (look at a default ArchiCAD template files library) then you should see your copy past improve.
