Rotating fill hatch patterns in 2D

Barry Kelly
Moderator
Either I am missing something very obvious here or Graphisoft is.

I have an object with a fill (POLY2_) in 2D for which I can change the hatch pattern to whatever I want.
When I rotate the object the hatch pattern remains the same - i.e still related to the drawing origin and doesn't rotate with the object.
The polygon fill rotates but not the hatch.

Is there a way to rotate the hatch pattern as well without actually having to DEFINE the fill?
I don't want to define the fills as I want to be able to use any fill that I have set up in Archicad.

I am hoping it is me missing something very obvious.

Barry.

Hello Barry,
To have the hatch pattern rotate with the object or
be able to control the rotation of the hatch pattern
you have to use the POLY2_B{2} command that
has a fill rotation angle parameter. I hope
I am understanding what you want to do.

Thanks Peter,
That would be it.
This object was originally scripted in version 8.1 so I was keeping it in that format.
I made the mistake of looking at an old printed GDL manual which is actually for the version before and doesn't have the POLY_B{2} command.
Time for me to throw that book out and start using the online help.
I still prefer the printed GDL manual though - I wish GS would still publish it with the new versions.

Thanks again,
Barry.

While there's nothing like reading from a well-thumbed book, PDFs are far, far easier to search - and when referring to the manual, I'm almost always looking for something specific.

By using online manuals, we're collectively saving a substantial number of trees from the axe.
