Setting Origin Point of Custom Objects / Library Parts

Jeff Galbraith

How do you control the origin point of a custom library part?

I created custom library objects for an acoustical ceiling tile to be used with the curtain wall tool, but Archicad automatically placed the point of origin of the ceiling tiles at their lowest point, so they don't properly engage the support grid.

How can I fix this?

Are you saving out something made on the floor plan? What is the "lowest point"? As in they are recessed behind the supports? Have you tried including a hotspot when you save it out? Is it modelled at zero elevation? I do not use the curtain wall tool so I am not sure how it interacts with sub-objects...

If you modelled your object using tools such as Wall, Slab, Morph etc, and then saved it as an object, the origin of your object will be at the origin of the 3D space in ArchiCAD.
Before saving as object, drag it so that the intended insertion point of your object is exactly at 0, 0, 0, coordinates.

Hm... AC seems to ignore the origin for 2D objects...
