Subsets: Can Someone provide a definitiion

I have been exchanging posts with my fellow rsllers all week about libraries.

I can find no description of a library, or rather a "subset".

Can someone please help me to understand what a subset it in the context of libraries and library parts. \

I am totally confused. Not a good thing for a reseller, I think.

Subset or subtype?

Hey Tom, Thanks for responding. I make reference to Subsets. I think I'm clear on sub-types.

For example, I don't understand the difference between the AC65 Subset online at GSTR. If it is an incomplete or reduced set of objects, how would it help me? Wouldn't I really want a complete 65 library converted for use in 9 complete with new GUIDs and assignment of subtypes?

For example. Why didn't Wheelchair Guy make the cut from version 7 to 9.

Should he be part of a subset? Do I have to create this subset myself? To use him I am loading a converted version of the entire 7.0 library. He doesn't show up in the subsets I downloaded.

Oh you mean in reference to the stuff on the Tech Support download site!!

I have no idea. I cannot find anything from Graphisoft on it.

I could be wrong (more like probably) but I believe a subset is a library that makes old files compatible with new libraries without causing 845 duplicate item errors, for instance if you have a file drawn in AC7.0, and now you're working on it in 9.0, and would like to use 9.0 library items, you will have to load the 7.0 lib, and the 9.0 lib resulting in a library loading error stating several hundred duplicate items found. but you could download the AC7 library subset for AC9, and it will add the items from 7.0 that arent in 9.0
