I am trying to create caroma WC library parts for future use.
I have managed to convert the dwf from caroma's website into a usable GDL object, however the automatic GDL creation has created an object that when viewed in elevation has many printable contour lines.
I only really want to see the very edge of the toilet lines in elevation.
So is there a way that i can change the GDL script to hide minor contours??
There should be an option on import to eliminate those lines. I forget what it's called. Something about smoothing or coplanar surfaces or something. I know it's there for 3DS. I think it also exists for DWG.
Are you sure that's not just the crackle finish glaze?
It seems odd. As I recall the parts I've imported have been fully smoothed. Maybe the non-smooth parts are surface models and the smoothing only works on solids (just guessing here).
Do you have any program that allows you to save out parts of the model? You can import 3DS to SketchUp Pro if you have it (or you could download the eight hour free trial).
You got me curious so I took a look at one of their toilets. This one imported a little better into ArchiCAD. They also have a native SketchUp model that looks OK. On the other hand the SketchUp 3DS import is no good at all (the "merge coplanar faces" option is no help) and exporting from the SketchUp model to ArchiCAD via 3DS was similarly yucky.
Tom,
Having the same issue with Caroma stuff (in fact can't find any 3ds or dwf files on the web site). Did you have any luck with objects? Having similar issues with IFO basins....untidy basins but great WC's..??
Cheers

Warwick,
I think I gave up in the end.
From memory caroma did not have 3D files for all of there products.
And the contour lines were only a issue on some of there odjects.
I have attached an example of one object that didnt seem to work too bad.
