Who ate the Archicad Model Library

The library that came with 28 is missing all of the standard US components. It appears to be just furniture.  Supposedly there is a method to return to the US library but there is no information as to how to load this library.  Is anyone else having this issue or is no one using 28?

Operating system used: Mac Intel-based

Hi Eduardo,

It looks like you have the object library from AC27 loaded. In the global library .libpacks for AC28 I'm not able to find an equivalent.

That is correct. The libpack one doesn't have them though the regular Monolithic one does.

Misread it.

You can extract them from the Monolithic library as I had to do with the Medicine Cabinet.

When you say "extract them from the Monolithic library", are you referring to a previous version's library or is there an AC28 full library somewhere?

In this case Monolithic refers to the AC27 Library or the "Archicad Library 28" (which is the same as 27) since they are missing when you use "Archicad Library Packages".

Thanks, Eduardo. I see that library in there now.

I would like to know whether this is something that just didn't make it into the global library yet or is this a push to move us toward using columns/beams coupled with profiles to create these structural elements (since the included Standard Steel Profile Database does include US Imperial standard steel sections).

They were added later after users in the Beta complained that they were missing so I don't think they will be integrated…

I wonder why one still use objects (except for compatibility with older projects) rather than the standard steel profiles from ArchiCAD's built-in database. I find it more logical and flexible to use the column and beam tools with these profiles rather than objects.

Because this is how they look in section and in 3d which is unacceptable.

Shy is this not part of the setup.  This should be automated.  WE use and have used several competitors over the 45 years in practice.  All others just update and dont require a rebuilding.  Why is this made so complicated.  An upgrade should be nothing but a one step operation

This is a ARCHICAD responsibility.  When the new version installs it should look at your prior install and help add those things you need.  It should also either jsut install these directly or provide prompts to assist you in all the installs needed.  Graphisoft needs to set this up as if they were a user that wants to work quickly after an upgrade.  NOT play with settings.  A New install should be painless.
