I've wondered this forever, but as I create Favorites for our template I'd like to understand once and for all.
Most complex tools (CW, Stairs, Rail, etc.) have settings that include a "Built-in ABC" and "ABC" option. For example, "Built-in Frame" and "Frame" for curtain wall mullions, all the way down to "Built-in Up-Down Text" and "Up-Down Text" for stair text. It's clear that there are differences when you toggle between them, but why would I choose one over the other? Thanks!
Operating system used: Mac Apple Silicon 14.7.1 Sonoma

Basically the Built-Ins are there only as a fail safe. If for whatever reason there is no library loaded there is at least something to work with (e.g. you could not make a new section otherwise).
Officially GS recommends not to use those since they are only designated fallbacks and they might not be updated as quickly (since they come within the app itself, not externally) if there is a bug in it, or it just might have less features overall.
But I found no issues so far when I worked with it – so if you are happy with it it should be totally fine.
