Honestly, there are bugs, to be sure, and I see that several have still not been fixed. I suspect they never will because they are having too much fun with new tools to care about fixing existing ones.
So, this bloody window tool is very similar to the railing tool. I swear, they are smoking something over there. I have been trying to set a window correctly in the wall and get the casings to work. I have a complex profile, and the exterior casing will not work.
1. bug, still. been like this for me for several versions. when you have gone through a window's settings, in sequence, changing all the parameters like shim space, size, frame, etc. you get to the reveal settings and make a change to suit your application, and low and behold, the shim space changes to 1 ¾". idiotic. I have never really been able to figure out the reveal settings.
so I have been wasting my time today trying to get these bloody things to work
Some wall closures allow you to set the reveal depth and some don't. Some closures allow you to set the offset of the exterior casing from the frame, some don't and some of the ones that do allow, don't seem to actually change it. I have gone through all the closure options and tried to get the frame depth to match the wall, and have the exterior casing to be in the right place and I simply can't. So please see the attached pic and feel free to patronize me. Someone please, please tell me what the setting should be.
In pic 1 I have the casings set the way I want, but there is no way to set the reveal depth. This wall closure is set to stud wall.
Pic 2 I selected solid wall, and this allowed me to set the reveal depth correctly, but the exterior casing is in the wrong place relative to the frame and there is no option to set the casing to frame reveal. Unless I set the closure reveal depth to 0", then there is the option but then the changes I make don't actually do anything. It doesn't change the position of the casing. Not to mention that I now don't have the reveal depth I need.
Pic 3 I've tried all the other closure types and get all sorts of different but useless results.
Well, I just changed the wall to a regular composite wall and it seems to work fine, so it's just another bloody bug.

I am not sure how to solve those problems you are having above but they annoy me as well. Have you ever tested the CI tools window object to see if it will do what you want above ? You can download the tool and test it for a month to see if it will work for you.
I think GS are relying on us to learn GDL in order to adjust certain parameters of library parts. I haven’t got a clue or time or even the desire to learn GDL scripting let alone figuring out how to make library parts behave.

So you’re experiencing the same issue. Then it’s clearly another bug. I agree, I have no desire nor time to learn GHL nor should I have too. Is it any wonder I didn’t renew my ssa? I’m not sure I want to mess with third party libraries. Any of my big issues came as a result of cad image objects. I’ll just try to avoid complex profiles in future. My solution in this case was to eliminate them where I could. I’ve said it before, I’m glad I’m nearing the end of my career, I’m very frustrated with AC but don’t have the gumption to learn a new bim app.

It’s not really a bug. It is just that they could go over all the windows in the library and edit the GDL so they all adjust consistently with all types of parameters that you mentioned above. If a team in GS was dedicated to updating window and door parameters that would be cool. I saw a video recently for AC28 for more options with multiple glass door panels. See the last quarter of the video in this link.

I feel like I saw someone bring up this issue a long time ago, and that was a US library issue...

hello GS! are you even looking at this? i am so sick and tired of dealing with bugs that are not repaired version after version. what junk

I have noted this at least 6x, the Door and Window libraries are the most important libraries to function properly. EVERY building design needs them. Yet Graphisoft is unwilling to put the resources toward testing EVERY door and window and fixing the ones that need repair.
It really is a joke how poorly implemented the Door and Window libraries are. Graphisoft chooses not to partner with and incentives manufacturers to produce door and window libraries for them. Both Revit and Sketchup have extensive door and window libraries available from major manufacturers.......
This will never be address by Graphisoft. Take heart, AI is changing the playing fields, there are new players coming online soon with new BIM offerings. They may not know it yet, but the writing is on the wall.
