i have modeled using slabs a nice clean fire house door.
I want to save it as an object and bring into into an exisiting project.
Then rotate it, so it is standing up.

I have made it and saved it.
Now i need to get my head around exporting it as an object file and bringing it back in.

Im kinda loos now
Help me please.
Thanks.

next step to creating the perfect cut chees rool in archicad.
how can i make walls at the open cut ends of my cheese roll.
i tried SOE but that just cuts the walls under the cheese or over the cheese but not in the cheese?

any ideas on my cheesy problem ?
Thanks.

ok i was able to use the original profile.
created a slab, then changed the 3d perspective to 90 degrees so i was looking from the real top down.
then saved it out as an object.
just brought it back into my main model file and with a little tweeking, i fitted it in.

Now i have realised as object, i cant put doors or windows into it ?

any ideas guys?
Thanks.

im just thinking about this problem ?
i can create an object, a door or a window ?

but i cant save it as a wall.
so i can pop in doors and windows like i would really want ?

mmmmm, so does that mean i have to create every thing first in my object?

THANKS.

The Shell (and Multi-plane Roof) Pet Palettes are buggy. I have found that either holding down the mouse button, or selecting one option then switching back to the desired option, can overcome this behavior.

Correct, only Walls take Windows and Doors.

One option is to place holes in the slab before creating the object, then use a zero height wall to place the windows and doors to align with the slab holes.

thanks david for the very good answer.

to be honest i wanted to try creating the shape from the round curved building used by graphisoftn in their installation process of archicad.
i was able to roughly match the overall shape but when i see these photo of all these walls and windows set into this form. i am still scratcjing my head and wonder.... HOW THE HELL WAS THAT DONE ?

actually i was just reading a little about the above design and the graphisoft website says this design was made in 2009, way before 2011s archicad 15 with SHELL TOOL?

How the hell was this form possible without the shell tool ?
