I want to save it as an object and bring into into an exisiting project.
Then rotate it, so it is standing up.

I have made it and saved it.
Now i need to get my head around exporting it as an object file and bringing it back in.

Im kinda loos now
Help me please.
Thanks.

The trick is to put the 3D Window settings so that you see the top of the object (the XYZ coordinates do not need to match) usually by selecting front view from the options and then you can save what you have in the 3D window as the object.

If I remember correctly this procedure is nicely explained in AC's help files.

ok i found this now.

http://www.caddigest.com/subjects/archicad/select/tutorials/103003_pacifico_window.htm

its very good.
the only thing is for version 15, you have to go to FILE; LIBRARIES AND OBJECTS ... SAVE 3D MODEL AS.

I was able to make my slab with a whole stand up !
Now i am curous, can i group a few elements together and use this trick... ?

ok so for me.

1 create new project,
2. create your elements on the plan. ( you dont have t group them !
3.go to file, library and objects, export as 3d model.
4. save as... what ever you want. this will save a new object in your project. i saved my object as a door.
5. then go to plan create a big wall, click door and select your new door.
6. place the door or opening. it will automatically be standing up.
7. then go to file. library manager......click save as external object. now you can save the correct file to an external object file on your desktop.
(8) now just open your real project, click library manager, import, select your desktop file and bang, you have it.

i know im a newby but maybe this can help others ?

interesting question ?
if i change the object and save it as the same name and pop it into my project file.
will the objects in archicad update with the new object ? that would be very nice.

Yes.
Just be aware though that if you alter the overall size (width, depth, height) of the object then it will not alter those sizes for the already placed objects.
They will appear as if they have been stretched or shrunk.
You will need to reset these sizes manually in the placed objects.
But if the size is not changing then all will be fine.

just something i learned.
i created a full 3d german fire truck using slabs on plan.
tried to save it as object, but it kept arriving in my project as lieing on its side.
so i saved it as a door.
then in my real project, i created a wall and then inserted my door.
the fire truck stood up perfect.
but of course i had a big wall in the middle of my project.
so i brough the wall right back to the front and back of my fire truck, then the truck was there and no sign of a wall.

there must be a easier way of creating an object from plan and then flipping it up 90 degrees.

any help guys ?
