window casing enhancement

When I model building with ventilated facade I would always need to control a gap between th window casing and the ventilated facade.

As a workaround, you can set a negative tolerance for the window frame and then set the tolerance for the opening, which should then affect the trim.

Just remember to substract the the tolerance from the window size to adjust back to your preferred opening size.

I cannot obtain what I want ... I need a gap between the frame of the window and the wall hole and also a gap between the outside face of the wall and the inner side of the external casing ...

you can't get that second gap with the window tool.

You could add a layer of 'air' to your wall, but this is going into not being very smart territory rapidly.

I would just model the trim seperate from the window. Make a layer with a seperate intersection number so elements don't interfere with your model.

I'd make a stretchable wall complex profile shaped like an upside down U, so it's easy to adjust the fill / surface at once. Just resize it for the openings.

Thanks Erwin for your suggestion. This is exactly what I always do ...
today I noticed that there's a sort of bug in the door object. actually I think it is in the macro controlling the casing ...
I noticed that if the frame thickness is greater than the wall thickness - so the frame comes out of the wall - the casing continues to be attached to the wall.
This is not correct.

I would say it is behaving correctly by sticking to the wall and the question is why you would want the extra casing attached tp the frame, but that is getting in to the details of the, well... detail

The casing as such is a bit limited, especially when you want specific details to work.

yes ... It seems detail of the detail ... you're right ... but BIM for me means that you model as it is built ... So I would like to have object that second this way of working as much as possible ...
I find doors a bit limiting for these missing parameters/behaviours
