Recently my friend discover a wired prblem in his archicad (New Zealand educational Version),
and that is: he can't open or save files such as .pln .dwg.
Those type of file disappeared from his archicad!
Tho he can create a new project when opening archicad, but can't save it in .pln or .dwg.
however, i don't have such problem (i'm using international edu version)
would the different versions be the cause?
or any idea what caused this?
my friend's computer spec:
OS:Windows Xp SP2 English version.
videoicard: Nvidia 8600GT.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3
Cpu: AMD AthlonN64 X2 4200.
Ram:2G DDR 800.

In any case, I didn't think any educational version could save as PLN, only PLE. And I assume it's the same for DWG, etc. As an educational version, Graphisoft don't really want you sharing your projects with commercial users, otherwise everyone would use the free educational version, GS wouldn't make any money and all the programmers would go hungry.
The question now is how does

Cheers,

Is it that the educational version actually can not save as PLN or DWG!?

i have no idea why my ArchiCAD can.
My ArchiCAD was downloaded from where Graphisoft provide the linke when i registered the "Graphisoft ArchiCAD 11 Educational INTERNATIONAL"
So...in this case...my friend's ArchiCAD is actually working alright?

Edu versions file type was changed to PLN (in AC10) and the PNE file was removed, though modules are still published to MDE instead of MOD.

Try reinstalling first. Unless he didn't verify his student status with GS and the AC expired which might explain why he cannot save the file or export it to dwg. This might also happen if he downloaded the Demo version instead of the EDU one.
