Floating License - no information who use license

Hi,

Started using Floating licenses and had first issue is the we were not able to track down who from office automatically took floating license (we still have floating and codemeter licenses). We need to go through all colleagues in floating license group and find in their computers via License Manager Tool who took cloud license.

We need this information to be shown in Company License Manager screen. There it's only visible total and used licenses, but who is using them it's totally not clear 😉

Which page is this? I can see who is using each floating cloud licence on the licence management web console. It states their GSID as well as the name of the computer they are on. This is probably where the link in your screenshot takes you.

Just checked with the others and it would seem that you are right. Normal users can only see if there are available keys in the pool assigned to them, and if they have reserved one, which computer it is being used on.

Necesary to see such information for everyone who use these licenses, so Admin no need to be distracted for such things 😉

Now, every morning Floating license is automatically assigned to person who still use Codemeter (Hardware) license, somehow Codemeter licenses should be priority one, not cloud ones. If person have Codemeter plugged in then it's kind clear that he use Hardware License:

That is weird that it is reserving a cloud licence when you have a dongle plugged in... Probably related to why you cannot open AC in demo mode while you are assigned to a cloud licence pool... *facepalm*

Are you guys frequently handing around dongles? If not, I would just remove the people using the dongles from the cloud licence pool.

The hardware keys should only contain a license up to version 25 if they have been updated to collaboration licenses (which they should do automatically).

For Archicad 26+, it will use a cloud license.

If you have not converted the hardware licenses to collaboration, then they can run up to version 29 if you were still updating with Select Agreement (SSA).

But then if you haven't converted to collaboration, you wouldn't have cloud licenses, unless you have taken out extra subscriptions.

If you do have extra collaboration subscriptions, I am not sure what would take precedence when you start 29, the hardware SSA licence, or the floating cloud license from your company pool.

You may have to talk to your local distributor about it.

Versions 6.5 to 27

We have many different Codemeter licenses from 21-29 versions, but it's not importand thing here.

Main issue here is that You have Codemeter dongle inserted into Your PC and You belong to cloud license pool group, archicad automaticaly starts using Cloud license ignoring Codemeter license. At least Archicad could promt user which license he prefers to use when starting AC. This is not big issue at the moment but it could be annoying because not clear who is ussing which license if You are not ADMIN.

I have hardware keys that have been re-programmed to version 25.

I have cloud licenses for 26+.

Because all of my licenses are now collaboration subscriptions.

When I open 25 it uses the hardware key,

When I open 29 it uses the cloud license.

What I don't know the answer to, and I can not test, is if you have a hardware key that is a perpetual licence and has not been converted to collaboration, so it is licensed for version 29.

It sounds like you have hardware keys licensed for version 29?

If you also then have a cloud license for 29, which one will Archicad use?

I would think the key but I don't know and can not test.

From what you write, it sounds like it is using the cloud license.

The only way I know of that would ensure that user does not get a cloud license, it to allocate the cloud licenses to particular users rather than having them as floating cloud licenses that anyone in the company pool can use.

You can also set up groups in your company licenses and can assign users to those groups.

Maybe you could have a 'hardware key' group and a 'cloud license' group, put the floating licenses in the 'cloud license' group together with the users that can access those licenses.

Put the other users that have the hardware keys in the 'hardware key' group where there are no floating licenses.

Now when they log into Archicad, there should be no cloud licenses available to them because they are all in the other group, so it should start with their hardware license.
