A Clue on Window Weirdness

Anonymous

Me again... I have determined at least one origin of the very weird window trim extensions, and am wondering a) if anyone else experiences this and b) if anyone has a way out. The windows were FINE until I SEO'd the wall they are in with the roof. Then, they instantly got goppered up. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you!

This is definitely a bug, but I am not aware of a workaround.

Others have noticed strange things happening
to doors and windows after a wall participates
in an SEO.
In this context the work-around is to trim
the walls to roof.

Well, by Jove. That does do it, though I prefer SEOing things for all the reasons we love SEOs, I might just havta do it this way. Till release 10, presumably. THANK YOU!

Yes, that does it, but w/ SEOing, I can move the roofs around and don't have to retrim...

... and have all kind of weird stuff happening, that you will spend more time troubleshooting than you need for re-trimming.

Theory might work, but what counts is the practice.

Have you tried SEOing before you place the window? This might change the outcome?.?

re: order of operations, doesn't make a difference. H'wever, it only happens to windows that I have selected "ganging" for.
re: throry/ practice, I absolutely agree. Esp for the novice, though, not always clear where to draw the line, eg where it is my mistake or where I have run into a bug in the program.
Thanks again,

A Workaround could be to place a "beam" as Trim piece on top and the bottom of the Window. This "beam" can be on a "3D Elevation" or 3D Bits layer that only displays in this view. ( Be aware of the intersection properties of this Layer as it relates to other views).

Of course, trim will have to be edited mannually with any window change. Trim to Roof seems the best option.
