AC 11 - snapping to core stud wall - Dims

This was touched on in another post of mine but a bit of clarification will help big time.

i have looked for core mode in the composite setting but cant find it in AC11. at least where i am looking / help takes me.

----also, is it possible to work with all parts of a wall visible, but only snap to core when setting dims?

thanks again all, youve been alot of help!

tell me about it!

This is super easy to do. Check the dimension only to core option. Then just click on the walls with the dimension tool like normal. Don't try to grab the core, ArchiCAD will do that for you.

You can also check/uncheck this option on placed dimensions.

ok, i found it. finally.

but it still seems to snap to all sorts of stuff, including the gyp layer

Go to your composite structures and make sure only the fills you want to snap to are checked (and are thus the core).

ok, before i go messing the file up like a typical newb, i have to ask one more question.

i need things like the gyp, air space and stuff to show in the plan. does AC distinguish between lines and fills? if so, i dont need the GYP fill. so, basically, i could still see the lines i need, have fills in the core wall (that would snap) and be set!

- guess i should just try it out.

---THANKS ALOT!

Yea, it didnt work. i checked the fills (or gyp, airspace, etc.) they were turned off or at least no fill was selected.

now, the lines representing the gyp and brick, etc. are still there.

so, if i understand this correctly, there is no way to have snaps only at core, if the other elements are shown, even in outline only.

takes again.

Please see my previous comment. You most certainly can dimension only to the core and have the rest of the composite still show.

THANKS JARED, NOW I MENTIONED THAT I AM THICK IN THE HEAD SOOOO.

SOMETHINGS NOT WORKING. AS IT IS STILL SNAPPING TO THE GYP LAYER AS WELL AS THE CORE.

I HAVE EVERYTHING SET TO THE WAY I BELIEVE IS CORRECT. THE ONLY THING THAT IS CHECKED, IN THE COMPOSITE LAYERS IS THE FILL OF THE CORE WALL. THERE ISNT AN OPTION TO CHECK THE CORE OUTLINES.

THANKS FOR EVERYONES PATIENCE ON THISONE
