AC 16 Bug?? - Layer won't stay hidden

We have one project (so far) that we have discovered that there is one layer that is showing up as visible (Show) when it should not be, based on the Layer Combination in the view set. (and this is the case regardless of the view set or layer combination) When an object on that layer is selected and the layer hidden using the Quick Layers toolbox, it hides but then reappears once you zoom or pan. Tried making a new layer combination with the layer hidden and it still reappears once you zoom/pan.

Anyone else running into this? Know the cause?

Will try to duplicate and/or see if it occurs in any other projects or any other layers.

Possibly an OS issue, I am running Mac 10.7, testing same files on 10.6 seem to be OK.

So apparently it is a known bug, they are working on the fix but there is also a workaround, which we tested and seems to work. From Graphisoft Technical Services...

Sorry you are experiencing this trouble. We just discovered this bug and we will have a fix for it soon. In our last update a programmer fixed one problem and unraveled something else but this will now be corrected. The ETA is within 2 to 3 weeks or possibly sooner.

In the meantime, workaround is simple. Close the complex Profile Manager palette and the trouble will stop. Only open the complex Profile Manager as needed and close afterward.

Sorry I didn't catch this thread sooner or I could have saved a lot of posts... I discovered and reported this a couple weeks ago. It was happening to me in AC15. Disappointed to hear it carried over to 16 as well. Closing my profile manager fixed it for now. Should be noted that if I open my profile manager and keep it open, the problem comes back. Like you mention, keep it closed.

Ugh, this is STILL AN ISSUE in AC17. I have a couple of layers that won't turn ON... i made a layer combination, and while browsing via the project map, after turning them on, they keep shutting off. I had the profile manager open... closed it, and problem solved. Was driving me NUTS!

Just chiming in to say that this is still a bug in AC17 for me... glad I found this thread! Closing the profile manager solves the problem, but we really like profiles (and thus we keep the manager open by default) so please give us a fix Graphisoft!

Thanks,
JB

JB,

I could not reproduce the problem in ArchiCAD 17 (5019). Can you please list specific steps that you are following to make the problem occur? Can you tell me which layers are stuck? Is it layers 2 thru 5 (as listed in the Attribute Manager) as posted above?

While GRAPHISOFT attempts to address issues brought up in the forum posts as much as possible, the best way to report a bug is to send an email to your regional support office or distributor. You may simply send in the URL of the Talk post to bring it to our attention. Contact Support

Hi,
Yes it is layer #5 that I was using when I experienced this problem. But when I opened AC this morning (same file) I did not have the same problem!

When I was experiencing this yesterday, this was my sequence:
1. With the 2D window active, turn on a hidden layer using Layer dialog.
2. Draw multistory marquee and open 3D window.
3. In 3D window, the layer is still hidden (rebuild/refresh does not help). Open layer dialog to unhide the layer.
4. Go back to 2D window, now layer is hidden again.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, intermittent issues are what keep us tech support guys up at night. You mention you steps above but since there are more than one way to navigate through a project I wonder if you could be a bit more specific about how you get to each view and if the view are saved in the View Map or the Project Map. Along the same lines, is the 3D view is a saved view or a Generic Perspective/Axonometric view?

The more details I can get to reproduce the issue, the quicker we can make a fix.
