AC 16 - Exchanging Core elements vs Finishes + Other

Hi

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to show "Finishes Only" or "Finishes and Other Only" as opposed to "Core only"? Our structural engineer is making an integrated model in Revit based on our exported DWGs and then handing it back to us via IFC for further coordination. We don't want redundant modelling elements since many of our composites have several finishes and substrates that we need to keep. Obviously I would like to to avoid re-skinning the structural elements with a new set of "finish" composites...

What do other firms do when faced with an integrated model of this sort?

Thanks,

There is no such Partial Structure Display option, I am afraid.
Graphisoft recommend the Reference Model concept for IFC collaboration, meaning that you use the IFC coming from consultants as a separate model file, that can be placed into your project as a Reference, but you do not actually import that geometry to become part of your model (For example, you import the IFC into an empty ArchiCAD Project file and then place that as a hotlinked module). Then you modify your model based on the reference model. This way all participants have their own models they can keep clean with everything modeled the way they intended.

Thanks Laszlo.
While I can see this approach still requires both the architects and the engineers to model the structure and keep them coordinated, I can also relax a bit knowing that I won't have to manage how their structure appears in our drawings, i.e., I won't be faced with any printing/output surprises in the end.
