AC10 Slowdowns With Mactel

I have a 2.33 GHz MacBook Pro with 3Gb of RAM, and upon starting to use AC10 on it with a large shared (3-person) project (39-unit apartment building) I am hitting irregular slowdowns when going to the 3D Window or Section Window.

These slowdowns are unpredictable. I'm not sure yet, but it seems like the first time I go to 3D after a Send & Receive it takes about 5 minutes for even a small marqueed-off area. But I am pretty sure that the first time I open the file, even with exclusive access, the 3D window is slow. In each case I get the spinning beachball after about 10 seconds, and the Application Not Responding message in the dock. Then it finally unsticks.

Then I've got some section windows that are also problematic, taking 7-8 minutes for a simple section with almost no added text. When I cut a new section adjacent to the problematic one, it is lightning fast. Just now, after using one of these new sections for 2 hours, it suddenly turned into molasses.

My old PowerBook G4 didn't exhibit these problems, but I wasn't using the model intensely in teamwork then.

Any thoughts about whether these are TeamWork issues or Mactel issues?

There seem to be lots of strange (and conflicting?) reports of slow performance lately.

When I first installed the Mactel version of AC10 on my MacBook Pro it was noticeably faster than running in XP in Bootcamp (which was still faster than any of the Dells or HPs I've seen). Lately 10 has been very slow to open files but this may be due to my hard drive being nearly full.*

There have also been numerous reports of slow performance in 11 but I have only seen this (so far) when referencing large complex drawings.

*That appears to be it. I recently cleared 40GB of space and 10 just launched as quick as ever.

A follow-up to my original post:

My local hard drive has 30 Gb of free space, so that wasn't my problem.

BUT...AC11 is now running rapidly (yesterday and today) with our 277Mb shared file. Complex sections and elevations are rebuilding in a robust, snappy way. I've never seen AC - even back to v4 - feel so responsive when being pushed to its limits. 3D Window and Photorendering (love that Koh_I_Nor with shadows!) are fast, too.

Weird - it feels like AC11 and the computer just had to get to know each other a little and get broken in. Hopefully the good performance continues (knocking on a wooden table top).
