Altering an element's home story

For example: I am on story 0, and go to the 3D window. I then draw a wall on what would appear to be story 2. When I go back to the 2D window, the new wall will be on story 0, although it's z position is correct.
Another example would be dragging a copy of an object from story 1 to story 2 while in the 3D window. Returning to the 2D window I find that both objects are on story 1.
Very confused.
Does any body know if my problem is solvable?

Another example would be dragging a copy of an object from story 1 to story 2 while in the 3D window. Returning to the 2D window I find that both objects are on story 1.
There's an inconsistency in how stories are handled with respect to the 3D window.
1. It is not possible to 'move' an element to another story. It must be cut/pasted. (Cut & paste of elements is not possible in 3D.) You may elevate an element into the stratosphere, but it will still be on the same story. This is where logical AC stories differ from the real thing. (Plus they can coincide, which isn't exactly realistic either.)
2. The 3D window tries to be intelligent about choosing what story to use when elements are created in 3D. It will assign the element to the story that contains the element's insertion elevation. (Bottom of wall, top of slab, etc.) Once it's placed, though, it's on that story for good, see #1.
The 3D window is smart about initial placement, but not about elevate edits.

Same here. As long as the base elevation falls between the upper and lower story elevations. There are some quirks when dealing with coincident or zero height stories, but it generally works as expected.

What a shame, it would be fantastic if AC could recognise stories properly in the 3D window. Oh well, fingers crossed.

I've tried that, but it seems to still create the elements on story 0, unless I'm moving my User Origin wrong. I've been Alt-Shift clicking in the 3D window at the story I want to work on.

I think, this behaviour is normal in archicad.
- if we create new elements in 3dview they will be placed on the story where we called the 3d view
- if we change elements in 3d view, they will stay on their original story.
In my opinion this is not so bad at the moment, because we dont get an information, on which story the selected or new element is located.
I hope in future versions of archicad the information in which story an element is located, is shown and can be changed. (for example in the info window or in the elements settings (if called in 3d view)
