I prefer Godar. But i think that is not our case.
My apologies.

Your opinion is respected, but looking at the big fat list of basic features missing, and knowing how easy it is to program a GUI and knowing that all the effort in v9 has gone in Estimator+Constructor makes me think that v9 was a skipped version.
Hmmm ... VC solutions came out QUITE some time after 9. 9 is the engine, so they don't exist without 9. Don't forget also that a crossplatform development is required, and cross processor also (new MacTels). Easy to program the GUI? Maybe, never done it.

I think that a cad software in 2006 cannot handle materials so badly.

This is why a new GUI was not important. It is welcomed ofcourse. But not on the cost of important features.
Quite true.

Just a differnet point of view.

Isn't it rather an "Archicad+" topic, the accurate place for desperate people to grumble?
The 2nd section (specific question - problems) of the forum is very useful for people who try to solve something without being overflowed with general complaints.
Please keep it clean.

The topic is moved here and joined with an older topic, ArchiCAD 10 features.

Just to keep everything nice and tidy ...

The whole version was the new feature. But it takes one to understand
i think you are referring to version 8....version 9 was a more refined version 8 only.

When I bought in on the subscription, lo those many months ago, my reseller said February. I think folks now are talking April but I have never heard a definitive date from anyone.

The key to doing these upgrades without going insane is the same as maintaining a marriage: LOW EXPECTATIONS.

Unfortunately, I'm not good at either.

oreopoulos, I have to dissgree with you about scripting. I really do not want to see a command line or code anymore. It belongs to the past. And to Autodesk. I am an architect, not a programmer. I do modelling and drawing, not coding. Sometimes rendering too. As for complex forms modelling - it CAN be done without scripting! Just look at MAX. Extremely complex forms are modelled there without any scripting. And everything is arranged in such a way that you could go back to any step in a list an change it!

With this I do not say what I like Graphisoft's progress - on this ground I fully support your opinion. It reminds me of what has been happening to Autocad during the recent years. There is a "new" release every year but there is NOTHING new in the application since r2000. And now it's r2006. Everything is just colourful icons, 3d buttons, flashing gadgets, etc.

I think the problem is age. Perhaps when an application reaches 10 or 15 years of age it should be terminated. Because it does not develop anymore! Autodesk's decisiion was to make Revit. Shall we wait for Graphisoft's similar step?

Correction... Autodesk purchased Revit. No new bold vision from Autodesk.

All the same, Millard! Developed or bought - they moved to a new product because the old one couldn't catch up!

Ok, so who's forcing you to stick to AC? If Revit is all so bright new and shiny, maybe you should download a trial version and start learning?

IMO, Revit's still got "a lot to learn", I've tried it out just to see what's the big fuss about. Trust me: nothing. You can't get much real work done there, but in 2-3 releases it'll catch up with AC if GS doesn't respond properly.
