ArchiCAD 11

ArchiCAD 11 will come soon (as much as I suspect..)
What can AC 11 do better than AC10?

AC 10 was good stuff but heavy to digest.
Please give us a little 10.5 with no big change, just correct the most obvious mistakes we complain about (you know what).
And make it cheap, of course (I don't care, we have a maintenance system)

12 month product cycles are about getting more money out of the user base. Next step in the process is subscription rather than upgrades, followed by retiring products.

Autodesk are the experts on this. The text below is from a 2005 item on WorldCAD Access:

In Jan 2006, Autodesk will retire AutoCAD 2002-based products: "The retirement represents a strong opportunity for us to convert a large base of customers to subscription and to crossgrade them to higher vertical products, leading to robust growth in future subscription and upgrade revenue."

There are no plans to increase prices; instead, the plan is to get more money out of each customer. "We can monitize the customer in a very interesting way," said Ms Bartz.

The company expects total revenues of US$1.35-$1.41 billion this year.

Ha! That's funny considering AC would be no where near a 12 month release cycle if it weren't for Revit's release cycle.
And Revit would be no where near where it is if it weren't for ArchiCAD...
At least not owned by Autodesk ... which is the same, really ...

Although I eagerly await new features and improvements, as a BIM manager, upgrading more often then every 18 months can be a real chore (albeit job security)...

I agree with kliment, Autocad and Revit are both upgraded every 12 months, however there is not much to show for it, particularly autocad.
Oh come on!!! You have a new version number, a new splash screen, new colours even! And you paid all the subscription fees!!! Lucky you!!!

GS who have had a policy of 18 month cyclical upgrades tend to pack more things in. I think id vote for 18 and more, rather than 12 and less!
Agreed. I would even bring the decimal version back, but "they look bad".

I also vote for marketing department. Please let Graphisoft copy THAT from Revit!!!

Are the Kosovars also going to be thrown in the blacklist for the beta testing?
